An app that supports you, calms you, and helps you regain balance
Created for people with disabilities and for those who want to reduce excessive use of electronic devices. Simple, intuitive, and designed to genuinely support everyday functioning.
Just a simple green filter on your Android™ screen.
- Support for people with disabilities
- Help in reducing the overuse of electronics
Polar Bear Helps is a simple accessibility tool that applies a uniform color filter over the screen and reduces visual intensity.
It was created for people with disabilities and for anyone who is especially sensitive to colorful, dynamic interfaces—when the default smartphone look can feel like a barrier you just can’t get through.
But it can also be a first step out of overusing electronics. This software won’t solve addiction, but the author hopes it will turn out to be a “golden mean” and help you move toward your goal.
How it works?
A monochromatic effect combined with green creates a very distinctive way of perceiving the Polar Bear Helps interface — calm, unobtrusive, and even slightly visually “sleep‑inducing.” This is not a flaw but a deliberate design direction, an aesthetics of quieting. By softening visual stimulation and reducing color noise, PBH makes the screen feel less demanding and easier to step away from.
Users can adjust the strength of the filter themselves, choosing any value between 20% and 70%. Lower values are recommended at the beginning, allowing the eyes and mind to ease into the experience gradually. The effect is subtle, and it takes time for the user to truly notice how the interface changes their rhythm of interaction. As the filter becomes part of that rhythm, putting the device down becomes simpler, more natural, and less emotionally charged.
Because the effect unfolds gently, it takes time for the user to notice it.
Place within Technology that cares
Polar Bear Helps is part of Technology that cares — technology designed to support the human being rather than burden them.
Essence in one sentence
Polar Bear Helps is an application with a green filter that helps a person regain calm, balance, and clarity.
Polar Bear Helps is an application built on solid scientific foundations
Its green monochromatic filter reduces overstimulation, lowers stress, and helps users regain control over their relationship with technology.
Research in psychology, neuroscience, and human–computer interaction shows that combining monochromatic design with the calming properties of the color green soothes the nervous system, decreases cognitive load, and limits compulsive device use.
PBH was created to soften the intensity of modern screens and support people who want to work more peacefully, live more mindfully, and reconnect with the real world.
The app also provides meaningful support for individuals with sensory disabilities, who benefit from less aggressive visual environments, as well as for those struggling with digital addiction, helping them reduce screen attractiveness and restore balance.

My story
I’ve been using Polar Bear Helps for ten months. After just two weeks, I noticed something I had never expected — my phone started to bore me. It stopped pulling me in and became just a tool again.
Over time, I removed YouTube channels that triggered anxiety or unnecessary tension. The fewer such things I saw, the calmer I felt. Today, I don’t overuse my phone and I no longer feel that anything is “pulling” me toward the screen.
This experience became the impulse for creating Technology that cares — an approach in which technology supports the human being instead of overwhelming them. Polar Bear Helps was the first step in that direction.
